Intervals in the Wind

Light interval workout on tap with 6 X 800M at 5K pace with 2:00 static rest. Purpose is just to keep the legs fresh without wearing them out.

Very windy out and the gusts at times were brutal. As a result my splits were all over the pace. I'm also getting over a bit of a head cold, so that didn't really help matters. The splits averaged out to where I wanted them but man, they were wicked inconsistant, thanks in large part to the wind gusts.

Track team was out and they were very supportive, a little too much at times, but it was well meant and appreciated all the same. Many of them are on the cross country team and a few are also my students. Good kids.

Planned rest day tomorrow but if I wake up early enough I might sneak in a predawn three miler. If not though, no big deal. Looking forward to Opening Day tomorrow. Hopefully the Sox won't pull the stink fest for the first part of the season (or the last) like they did last year.

w/u: Ran 1.6 miles @ 7:50/mile pace.
6 X 800M w/ 2:00 static rest. 2:46, 2:58, 3:01, 2:48, 2:54, 2:50. Splits all over the place because of some very gusty winds.
c/d: Ran 1.4 miles @ 8:16/mile pace.

w/u on paved roads, c/d on paved roads and trails.
Slightly hilly for w/u and c/d.
Upper 50s, partly cloudy, very windy.
Brooks Mach 13, shorts, short sleeved shirt.
