Plantar Fasciitis

Just as I felt I was getting back on track, now I've come to terms that I've most likely developed a case of plantar fasciitis. Ugh. Felt it coming on about a week and a half or so ago. Frustrating for sure, but I'm determined to lick this thing. Unfortunately, that means cutting back on my mileage for a while. I'm also going to do lots of stretching and put myself on NSAIDs treatment. I'm also considering the Strassburg Sock.

That aside, today's run felt great. Every other part of my body and mind is raring to go, just the stupid heel/foot discomfort from the plantars. We ran at Pineland Farms. About 10 of us in all. I mostly ran with Ryan and Jim, who were great company. All three of us are running the MDI Marathon next month, which will be fun.

Ran 13.4 miles @ 8:51/mile pace.
Trails.
Very hilly.
Mid-upper 60s, overcast, light rain.
Shorts.

I've had PF for the last 4 months. The pain is on and off, but it's always there. Icing provides temporary relief, but doesn't get rid of it. At the moment I'm hoping those strengthening exercises will get rid of it.

Good to see you today if even for just a few minutes in passing while I walked. Hope the PF clears up quickly - sounds like you are doing all the right things and staying on top of it.

My boss had PF and tried the Strassburg Sock with great success. He's not a runner but said the sock took care of it. Good luck.

That's horrible, I'm fighting a tight ACL and it's frustrating as well... I definitely don't recommend "licking" the heel/foot as you suggest. Yuk! :)

Whiskey is the only answer.

Good luck to you in dealing with the PF.

Heal that pain works great and used for ultras & also know people who have used them for the Badwater ...so it becomes a great insert/support that you keep in...it's that comfortable...

shop around for price ...i have seen some cheaper then the main site.

also if you have knots/trigger points in deep in your calves they will send a pain to the heal ...takes some time to find them and work them out... I had PF for about 3-4 months last year, no problems anymore.

Thanks everyone. Can't have the sweet without the sour. Though it could potentially take a while, I'll get through this. It could be worse.

Bob, those look interesting and aren't too expensive. I may give them a try.

I've also adopted a system using ACE bandages that mimics the concept utilized by the Strassburg Socks. Will do a post on it soon after I try it out more.
