Back Cove

Did a couple of laps around the Back Cove, enjoying the warm sun and cool ocean breeze. Legs felt great. Had to concentrate on keeping the pace down, which is always a good sign. All systems go for the Vermont 100.

Speaking of which, looks like it'll be a scorching hot one for the race. Highs around 90 degrees, and I'm guessing humid as well. I typically do well in the heat, but running 100 miles in it will be a real test. Bring it on!

Ra 7.2 miles @ 8:18/mile pace.
Hard-packed dirt trails.
Slightly hilly.
Around 80 degrees, sunny.
Shorts.

Best of luck in Vermont.

Loved the deer fly experiment (I'm sure I saw you on star trek in my youth, hiding behing the cardboad mountain with Dr Spock). Although I was a bit confused as to why you'd want to catch the buggers. If they stay away from your face do you care whether they come home with you.

Hey, good luck on the weekend and hope the heat moderates for you. There is quite a number of people doing it (almost 300?). We'll be watching and hoping for the best!

Grellan - it's all a matter of sinister revenge.

Mike - Thanks! Yeah, about 300 folks entered. Biggest field ever for the race.

Bob - You know it! I'll probably run a short and slow three miles tomorrow, but that'll be it.

Eeek... 100 miles in 90+ humidity. I'm way impressed that you are even planning on it.

Good luck and go kick some hot sweaty booty!!

Jamie,

See you up there...but leave the bug catcher at home ;-)

You teachers have too much free time in the summer!

Funny! I saw someone who had with fly paper covering the top of their hat. The deer fly only had to land once, and no further problems. Their hat was covered with dead deer flies so I think it did work. Good luck!
