I Won the Lotto!

No, not Powerball. The lotto for the Mt. Washington Road Race. I feel very lucky to get in again this year. I anticipate I'll be running again by then, though how fast I'll make it up the mountain remains questionable. Did the 7.6 mile all uphill trek last year in 1:39:04. It's a buttkicker of epic proportions for sure.

Hearing that I got in definitely lifted my spirits. I'm meeting with the surgeon on Monday for a consultation. Will hopefully have the surgery scheduled very shortly thereafter that.

Thanks again for all of the well wishes on the previous post. Truth is, things could be much worse and a full recovery is normal if they just need to go clean out the knee arthroscopically, which should hopefully be the case. In the meantime, I've taken to birding to help me occupy the massive amounts of free time I now I have on my hands. May sound lame, but it's actually a lot of fun!

Woo hoo!! I hope the surgery goes well and that you're running again soon!!

I think birding is great! Have you seen any interesting birds? If you have a bird book, I might ask you about these adorable black and white birds that are always floating around in the Central Park reservoir.

Thanks G! As for the birds, I'd guess that they are likely Common Goldeneyes or Hooded Mergansers. Google either name for images and you'll see. :-)

Hooray! Glad to see you're in better spirits. We recently set up a bird feeder and are visited by an assortment of scrub jays and finches every morning. It's lovely.

Hi Jamie,

I think it might be the bufflehead. The black and white are so extreme and pure that it looks like a cartoon.

I've got my fingers crossed for you. Hope your recovery is very speedy.

Birds? Central Park? Those are probably pigeons or seagulls :-)

Congrats on getting in on the MT Washington race, did it once myself and have an awesome race photo from it. Hope the surgery goes well.
