Six Degrees of Preperation

Busy day today. Kate and I are helping out at a winter carnival being held at the school where she teaches and we're going to follow that up with a tour of the Redhook Brewery, so naturally it made sense to run before rather than after.

Headed out just before 7am when the sun was about to rise. 6F/-14C out, but I was toasty. Got the idea of using a buff to cover my face from reading Danielle's blog (thanks D), but it got too warm after a half a mile so I pulled it down. Having a thick beard has its advantages for winter.

Just did an out and back on the trails out back. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Tomorrow's tempo run with Jeremy will hardly be pleasant and enjoyable, at least not while we're running it.

Ran 5.1 miles @ 9:35/mile pace. *estimated
Trails with packed snow and ice.
Slightly hilly.
Six degrees, clear.
Nike Waffle Racer VIII, Yaktrax Pro, warm up pants, thin tights, windbreaker, fleece pullover, short sleeved shirt, beanie, mittens, buff (pulled down around neck).
