Stupid Knee

Ran 3.1 miles @ 7:36/mile pace.
AHR = 153
Paved roads.
Mostly flat.
Mid 20's, cloudy.

Wanted to run longer, but the left knee continues to act up. It's a nagging, tight feeling on the outside of the left knee that sends quick tinges of pain every few minutes while running. Even when walking around, at times during the past few weeks I've been limping slightly. Some days it's worse than others. Whatever. I'm sick of it and have an appointment with the doctor on Monday to have it looked at. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Good luck with the doctor. Most of them are kinda useless when it comes to running issues. Have you tried IT band stretches or strengthening with side leg raises?

I second that on normal Docs. I have used the Saco Bay Physical Therapy folks in the past with excellent results. They really know their stuff and were very helpful in helping me understand my injury, what caused it, and how to avoid it in the future.

Good luck with your recoup.

Yeah, I'm totally prepared for the doc to not be of much help and getting a lecture on how running is bad for you and yada, yada, yada. Gotta get a referal from him though before I can see anyone else though. I'm tempted to go off on how sucky America's health care system is in that sense but I'll bite my tongue. Thanks for the recommendation on Saco Bay, TC. I'll look into them.

Best of luck with the medical advice. I've got a great ortho guy out here in Phoenix that really understands runners and has been spot on with every diagnosis; however, I know others have not been as fortunate.

One-way-or-another you'll get this under control and be back burning up the roads in rural Maine.

Bummer. Hope it resolves itself. Any kind of issue is bad, but joint issues, for me at least, always seem just a little worse.

That sucks. Sorry to hear about your knee. Hope you get some help soon. I would imagine some combination of stretching, strengthen, and rest may be in store for you.

You might want to mention to your doctor about plans to do a ton of races this year including ultras, just to get their professional opinion.

Well, too bad about the nagging knee. Frustrating at best, I am sure.

Hope things go well at the doc's.
